Then a close second to the number 3 it's the number 5.

Today, I celebrate my 5,000 blog visits.

I think that Jose is the only one that knows how much of a hard time I had creating this blog because it so happens that I'm as good with HTML codes as I am with sports. I suck... like, I really really suck!
Not just at one sport, incredibly enough I suck at ALL of them. I'm amazed at how I can even ride a
bicycle. You see, I was always the artsy kid in school that walked the crowded halls with sketch books & pastels in hand and hated gym class. I, obviously, also hated computer science class because evidently I failed to learn a lot of 'now useful' stuff, such as HTML coding!

So, when I finally finished my blog, I felt like I scored the winning goal at the World Cup final just 30 seconds before the second half of the overtime ended and saved my now world famous team from going to penalties! Yes, that's exactly how I felt! :)

Here I am today with 5,000 visitors and I'm happy. At least I now know that Jose is not the only one that
visits and reads my blog. :)

There's no better feeling than walking into a place and being welcomed with a big smile and

Edie, the owner of this amazing salon, has some sort of gravitational pull that just drags you to her candid smile and welcoming arms. She's one of those people that just loves life and befriends you instantly... no strings attached. The stylist at Strands are just so sweet, friendly and professional and I'm so excited about getting my haircut there this week!

Here are some of my favorite images from the salon, it's beautiful stylists, and Edie's gorgeous little daughter! Who by the way is just a treat to photograph!

Every single space was carefully designed and every details was meticulously placed.

Sad thing about life is that every so often we have to write the last sentence of a chapter, layers are shed, tears are cried... and we grow... and we mature... and we live.

Wonderful thing about life is that every so often amazing people make an entrance, friendships are strengthen with the years, you laugh more freely with age, and you love more intensely than the day before.

Funny thing about life is that you only live each day once, as bad or as fabulous as that day might have been...

I'm beyond grateful for having an amazing fiance, a wonderful grandma who I adore and who always.always understands me, an imperfectly amazing family, loving friends, and for being me and loving it. I'm well aware of my faults & flaws... but life is all about knowing who you are, embracing it but yet aiming to become better each day. Having a hunger for knowledge, a crave for growth, and being conscious that life is not just what you see.

This weekend I went to go watch the movie Bridesmaids with these amazing ladies and we had a blast! One of my friends suggested that we all dressed up and I, as the bride to be, had to wear white... I was afraid I was going to get too carried away and show up at the theater in a limo, with a huge bouquet, a veil and a flower girl throwing rose petals as I walked to the ticket counter. But I managed to control myself.

I'm really enjoying this year and I'm thankful for every day lived even if it came with a speeding ticket...

True friendship is about loving every single fault and virtue of a person. It's accepting them as they are and being grateful for having them in your life... to dance & shop with, to laugh & cry with, and to also grow with. Along our lives we meet a lot of people; most just pass by, but there are some that stick around. Forever, thankfully.

Jenny, Jill and Girlie have been friends since High School and their friendship is truly a testimony of loyalty, true friendship, and some craziness. (mostly from Girlie, who earned the nickname of giggles while we were shooting).

Thank you ladies for choosing me and for letting me capture such a special milestone in your lives and for allowing me the pleasure of meeting such an amazing group of friends.

Life has such a way of happening, such a way!!!
We planned this session a while ago and had to cancel it two times because of the
bad weather and when we finally agreed on a date, it turned out to be the perfect day.
When I say perfect, you don't even know how perfect it was! It just happened to be the
day before Paulina's water broke and little did I know that exactly 24hrs later from
when we were doing her session Emilio (her husband) would call me to let me know
that they were on their way to the hospital.

Paulina holds a very.very special place in my heart, she knows this as she also knows
how much I love her and how happy I am that her life is being blessed with a tiny
little life that will bring immense joy and happiness to her. She will for sure be a
wonderful mother, as she is a wife and friend.

I wish Paulina & Emilio the best in this world and I can't wait to meet little Matthias.
I feel like I already know him and he, just as her,
has a very.very special place in my heart.

Yes, I have officially created a new category for portrait sessions... and I love it!
These girls are amazing! I had so much fun with them and I'm beyond thankful for
getting clients like them; trendy, stylish, incredibly funny, down to earth and so beautiful.

When they showed up with all these props I was so happy. A while ago, I suggested the idea of a
tea party theme and they were all up for it... but never in a million years did I think that
they were going to bring everything that we had discussed!

The older I get; the better life gets and the more I love it!

As any girl knows, leaving the 20-25yrs check box in forms & surveys makes a BIG difference. We are no longer in our early twenties and it seems like every day we are more and more close to our thirties... and well, that is frankly quiet a big number for us. But then we realize all the great things that we have and how being older doesn't mean being old, it instead means being more wise, loving your life, having amazing friends, and just enjoying every single day with no concerns.

Getting older just means that I have lived more, that life has given me the gift of another year of living and the fortune to make it to another birthday.

So, here I am at 26... going on 30.

It's been way too long since I posted on my blog, mostly because I was SO busy with everything that's going on in my life but partially because I really didn't know how to start posting again after SO long. You know when you haven't talked to a friend in such a long time and you feel like you're disconnected? I mean, you're still friends and all but you really don't even know how to begin to catch up? Well, that's how I feel... So, here I go trying to catch up. I'll be posting a few sessions soon, only a few of my favorite sessions since I'm over 6 months behind! (God, that was painful to say)

First, I have officially changed my Facebook status from 'in a relationship' to 'Engaged'. YES, I am now engaged to a wonderful, amazing and unbelievable man that even after knowing me for over 5 years, being aware of my awful dislike of bringing the trashcan back in the house after the trash truck comes by, my ability to always question everything, my love for discussing religions, my infatuation with foreign films with subtitles in English, my bad habit of buying too many books that I never read, my daydreaming of impossible things for which I actually plot plans to reach, my annoying picture taking all throughout our dates, and my blue days in which I just want to hibernate in my house but that he always manages to light up with his silliness and sweet words. I'm happy and I say this in the holiest of ways... like never before.

In all my life, I have never been as happy as I am now and this... well; this is just what I've always dreamed of.

Our wedding will be this November and I can't wait! Actually, I can. I have SO many things to do... like enjoy my bridal showers and bachelorette parties. ;)

So here I am, being a bride and loving every single minute of it! I'm so glad that we decided to have a long engagement because this feeling of happiness is just amazing. The anxiety of this new phase and the process of getting ready to be a wife, not only a wife but the best wife that I can be and the best wife that he deserves is a wonderful experience.

How are we both going to fit our stuff in one house? Well, that I have no answer to. I do, however, know that he is the man of my life and that I am a better person because of him. I've grown and matured, cried of happiness, lost track of my whereabouts after kissing him, and cried when we're far from each other... even if it's just a couple of days. So, to keep it short and simple (something I find hard to do because I just LOVE to write SO much), I'M COMPLETE.

On a side note, he proposed in December in the most amazing and simple way possible... just like I always wanted. No fancy restaurant, no holidays involved, no message in the sky, and no jumping from a plane... just a fabulous dinner cooked by him and a guitarist playing for us.

Very often I find myself telling the story behind the scenes & behind the looks, but in this post I will just allow the pictures to do just that.

This session has been by far one of my favorite for the year. The light was unbelievable, the colors were beautiful and Mark & Cindy were beyond FABULOUS! (yes, they deserve all caps because that's just how fabulous they are)

As you may or may not know, I don't blog all of my sessions, for many reasons, one of them being the fact that it takes a very long time and well, I really don't have as much free time to do it as I would like.

As soon as I start to feel the cold breeze in the afternoons and see the light fade out earlier and earlier each day, I get so excited! Autumn is my favorite season.

Aside from the fact that I absolutely love scarves; I can't get enough of all the beautiful foliage, the showers of gorgeous leaves when you're walking under a tree and the wind blows, the amazing light in the afternoons and the feeling of nostalgia.

During these months of short days and long nights, everything becomes just a bit more beautiful and I become a lot more thankful for it all. And life, well life becomes a little sweeter & time just a tad more forgiving.

I've heard that in a lifetime one can have many loves. In a lifetime one can meet thousands of people and yet, know deep in your heart, that there is one person. Only one person that your entire being belongs to and with whom you cannot see the rest of your days without. I've known Paulina for many many years now and I can honestly say that I know that she has never loved anyone else nearly as much as she loves Emilio.

These two dated for over 10yrs. Yes people, over 10 years! They were kids when they met and now, many tears, laughs, and moons later they officially belong to each other. But for those of us who know them, we know that they've belonged to each other since forever.

...Paulina & Emilio, you two are wonderful and I'm SO happy that the two of you are together. For life.

Their session was absolutely amazing and these two pictures of Emilio are some of my very favorites. (I have many, I must say)

This picture of Paulina absolutely captures who she is, mellow, sweet, simple, and beautiful.

This picture was also another one of my favorites.

Life is about simplicity... and nothing can top that.

...Paulina told me that she had wanted to have her session in a field like this one and she was just so excited to get the pictures that she 'always dreamed of'. I'm happy that I made that happen for you.

How cute is she?! We had way too much fun and the time just flew by.

I love angles and playing with them. A simple pose could give you 2, 3, or even 4 beautiful different angles... such as these. We got these 3 pictures with the same pose but different angles. (she looks gorgeous in every one of them.)

Paulina and Emilio wanted to do a picture of them playing around and running... look how amazing this shot is. They look so happy...I love it!

This one is also another favorite of mine... they look way too vogue.

A world of 4.

Life doesn't have to be busy, hectic, full of commotion or overcrowded. Life can be simple, joyful, mellow, and amazingly beautiful. Life can be composed of 4 and yet be so complete.

Janet is caring, sweet, giving and oh so stylish!
Jose Luis, well... Jose Luis is funny, loving, and you can just see how much he adores his wife by the way he looks at her. Their lives are complete with each other and their 2 beautiful kids, Sebastian and Juliana.

Their family session was SO much fun and I'm actually thinking of hiring Janet to style all of my sessions because she manages to be classy and trendy so effortlessly.

Sebastian couldn't resist it and had to eat a couple of grapes. :D

Juliana couldn't look any cuter. I promise you that she's one of the sweetest little girls I've ever met. ever.

She couldn't blog the dandelion by herself so Sebastian came to the rescue!

Anyone that knows these two knows that all of the above are keywords in their lives. Lorena is one of those gifted women that knows her way around the kitchen and can win you over with her amazing dishes, which is precisely what she did with Saymon. As any good Hispanic woman knows, we win our guys with our natural flirtatiousness and then with our cooking. That's just how we, Hispanics are, shallow people that like to eat good food. I kid. I kid.

Lorena and Saymon are amazing together. They're so appreciative of each other and so attentive with one another. Saymon is such a gentleman and her, well... what can I say about Lorena? She's just amazingly sweet, caring and giving. They are the epiphany of what we could call perfection.

Their wedding day was full of fun, laughter, family and their closest friends. That day was destined to be nothing short of perfection and anything that deviated from that was not slightly important. The day was absolutely perfect in so many ways, from the weather (not one cloud in the sky) to the beautiful colors surrounding Lake Lanier.

Lorena & Saymon, I wish for all of your days be full of delicious food, amazing friends, and infinite love!

I literally had about 5 minutes to snap some quick shots of her before getting in the limo and yet, look how amazing she looks!

This is just a very quick sneak peak of today's session!
Unfortunately my internet has not been working properly and I was only able to do a few pictures but I promise that more will come soon.

Since Paulina couldn't wait to see her pictures and because she's just such a sweetheart; I had to do this quick post (also because I just love how these pictures turned out... but shhhh). I cannot wait to post the rest of the session that is just as amazing as these pictures!

It usually takes me at least a week or so to do a session preview because I've been happily busy lately but since this session was for a special someone I made sure I surprised her with an overnight preview.

Jose Luis & Janet are an amazing young and fun couple that are just a joy to photograph. A while ago I did a session for Janet and Juliana, who I love dearly because that girl is a trooper! She was so ready to go today and kept up with it the whole time we were shooting. Sebastian is their little boy and man-oh-man is he a charmer! He's got the charisma of a little Don Juan and the looks to go with it too. When I tell you that you need to keep your daughters locked up and away from him I kid you not!

We had a blast today and I cannot thank Janet and Jose Luis enough for their kindness and for being just so amazing!

Janet is just so beautiful!

When I was little I dreamed of being an artist! I wanted to be a painter and give interviews on TV and be hosted on all the live shows that Hollywood stars go to because, in my little head, I was going to be the next Picasso and now-a-days Picasso would SO be on the Jay Leno show. May be even Opera. Then, my dream kind of mutated and I was not only a painter, I was also a writer and then I was a painter-writer-singer...which to tell you the truth could never in a million years happen because I'm vocally challenged. Like, I cannot hit one note for the life of me, so, I had to stick to the first two.

As I got older I learned the importance of goal setting and persistence when it comes to dreams. You see, when I was about 6 or 7, every time I really.really wanted something, I would write it down, put it in an envelope and then put it way so I could work my 'magic'. I'm not really sure how I came up with that but I remember it to this day. Back then, I actually believed that I could do magic and that if there was something that I wanted with all my heart, I (yes, little me) could make it come true. When my dream/goal would come true I would open the envelope, read the dream and then smile with joy.

Today, I still don't know how to sing, I'm not the next Picasso and I will never be as great as Paulo Coelho but I know that I can make my dreams come true. Not because I can do magic but because I want them with all my heart and in life, wanting things with all your heart (along with persistence), does count as magic.

I was lucky enough to get these two as my clients. I have no words to describe how sweet and amazing they are! Lorena is the best bride that any photographer could ever have and I can only wish for the rest of my brides to be just like her! We have become friends and I'm now convinced that life only keeps getting better and better! I absolutely love my job because I get to meet the best people and be more than a photographer to them.

So, for a while I had been thinking of getting a dog but I kept pushing it back for many reasons e.g. school, work, traveling, life. A couple of weeks ago, I started looking at different dog breeds and reading about them, you know, trying to figure out which would be the best match for me. Just in case you don’t know me, I always.always do research before I make a decision. I like to call it ‘being informed’ but others may call it ‘being obsessive’. Whichever it may be, I just like to play it safe! "Trust...but verify."

Then last Tuesday, I found a pure breed Shih Tzu that just caught my eye. She was this tiny fur ball with the cutest little face. People, when I tell you that I fell in love with her I am NOT kidding you! I went to see her that same night and there she was, jumping up and down waggling her cute little tail at me. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew we were in the car going to her new home.

I already knew what I was going to name her way before I got her. Frida, as in Frida Kahlo. She's one of my favorite painters and I love her name. (Frida Kahlo was one of the greatest painters often categorized under the surrealist movement.)

I’ve never been a big fan of those immaculate white dogs that you always see on magazines, plus being such a HUGE fan of color, I could never have a plain white dog! I just couldn’t. So, my beautiful Frida is white and brown with hints of gold… and she’s absolutely perfect. To me, that is.

The last two weeks have been quite hectic for me. I've had a lot going on with sessions, editing, and adding a new member to my house. Yes, I am now the proud mother of a baby Shih Tzu. She's the cutest little girl and I could not ask for a more obedient and lovable puppy! Soon, I will be doing a post on her.

With that said, one of my favorite parts of these last few weeks, aside from my baby, was a call for a last minute event for a couple that got spontaneously married a few months ago and were now having a small party for their friends and family. It so happens that even though I did have a session during the day I was available for that evening. Life has such a way of happening that when you least expect it you find yourself in places you never thought of.

Jennifer and Khaleb are a young and wonderful couple that met in college sometime ago. They're both really nice and sweet. Oh... and let me tell you, Jennifer can bake the cutest little cakes, based on what I saw that day, she gets her baking abilities from her mom. Khaleb is such a gentleman and he plays the guitar wonderfully.

Here is a preview of a small couple session that we had before the guest arrived and soon I will be posting more pictures of their party along with the rest of their session.

People always think that your job and your passion do not have to be the same thing. Well, for me it is. I love photography, I love to travel, I love my job, and I love.love.love that I get to do all of these together! I'm thankful for all the places that I've visited and for all the wonderful people I've met while traveling.

I actually think that is quite strange how I always remember random people that I meet on trips... like the waiter at this little cafe in Paris who told Jose how much he loved his beard and when we went back 3 days later he was letting it grow like his. :) Or the guy in Rome who sold me my pashmina and told me how 'great' my Italian was... even to bargain. (lies, I'm sure)

When traveling I always take a diary and I never have time to write a word and to this day, its completely empty. I do however keep very special souvenirs, like a rose from the flowers that Jose got for me at La Fontana de Trevi or our train tickets from Florence to Milan. And I always keep them in whichever book I took on those trips and end up being bookmarks.

I've been to Mexico several times before but this trip was extremely special and meaningful because it was my first international wedding. A while ago, Adrian & Cassandra asked me to do their engagement session and their wedding. I was thrilled and loved every single second of it. Mexico is such a beautiful country full of color and amazing views, a photographer's dream.

For now, this is a little preview of their fabulous engagement session and more will come soon.

After rescheduling this session a couple of times due to the rain we finally got a cloudy but rain free day for this session. The three of us, Janet, Juliana and I set off to our location with bags of clothes, shoes, and everything else a girl needs. The heat we could've managed and even the humidity, which by the way did horrors with our hair, but not the bugs! Juliana was determined to find every single bug within 10 feet of her and then have us kill it. She definitely hates bugs and has an unbelievable ability to find them no matter how minuscule they are!

We put up a fight with Juliana as our secret weapon but at the end the bugs won and we ended up going to another location, a bug free location. Janet and Juliana are a joy to photographer, you will see what I mean when you look at their pictures. Juliana has a kind of quiet sweetness about her, which I think she got from her mom, who also happens to have fabulous taste in shoes!

After we finished with their session, I had Evija and Inga over my house and got to ask them some questions about their succesful business. Q- Tell me a little bit about how 100% Cool Efi Designs, how was it born?
A- 100% Cool Efi Designs is owned and operated by Evija and Inga. We started sewing and painting 7 years ago as a hobby. We loved designing clothes and accessories for our own needs and style. We fell in love with art and designing so much that we wanted to share it with rest of the world and now we are two artists designing one of a kind items. We use all types of recycled materials and fabrics giving each piece new life. You will find that each one of our items is handmade and thought out to suit your designing palette, you'll see detailed stitching , ties used as bag straps, hand painted canvas incorporated into bags, wallets, wristlets, scarves and much more for color and originality.

Q- 100% Cool Efi Designs has grown a lot since I first met you; why do you think that your business has been so successful?
A- We think the most important thing that has made us successful is believing in ourselves and never quitting even if you have to swim across the biggest ocean in the planet. We always keep positive energy and we do what we love. Offering handmade, unique, one of the kind, recycled, unisex, comfortable, trendy, good quality, creative with cutting edge designs for individuals of all ages from all walks of life has made us successful. Our job doesn't seem like it's our job , it's our hobby... it's our passion.

Q- How much of your business growth would you attribute to your personality and your image?
A- We think our positive, friendly energy and infectious vibe definitely shows in our wonderful pieces of art. We are here to spread love and positive vibe and we think that when people meet us, they feel it. :)

Q- I absolutely love your work because is just so unique and abstract, how did you come up with the idea/concept for your business?
A- Thank you for loving our work. :) How did we come up with idea? hmmmm... we love colors, different fabrics and materials and we love to paint. So by combining all of it together we came up with the idea to recycle clothes and fabrics giving each piece new life and incorporate hand painted canvas into our fabulous pieces of art.

Q- Any advice or tips for people that dream of having their own business one day?
A- Find your passion and follow it! Never give up, believe in yourself and experience the wonder of life!

I want to always remember my happy moments; my precious photography moments full of laughter and fun. In moments like this is when I realize that I was in fact made for this and that I am truly and utterly happy being a photographer. This past Sunday I had an amazing session with Inga & Evi from 100% Cool Efi Designs.

About 3 years ago I met Inga at an art festival here in Atlanta and we (Jose & I) instantly fell in love with her handmade, one of a kind, eco-friendly and artful bags, wallets, clutches, and necklaces. We've been fans since... well, let me clarify; I became fan and Jose became a groupie (he currently owns a collection of 10+ wallets.)

Aside from being such a great artists, Inga & Evi are also kind, friendly, and authentic. Evi is so wonderfully sweet, talented, and she gets these cute giggle attacks that you'll get to see later in their pictures. I must say that Evi is the voice of reason. Inga, on the other hand, is like a magical butterfly that happily parades all over the place with a joyful aura.

I truly believe that the root of their business success is their personality. These two girls are amazing and I love them both for being themselves, unfiltered!

It's almost impossible not to notice her. She has beautiful blue eyes, a vibrant smile, and a fabulous accent. She's one of those people that will befriend you instantly and make you feel incredibly lucky to have met..at least that's how I feel.

A couple of weeks ago we started to plan her session and between her busy schedule and mine, we managed to pause life for a couple of hours and enjoy this beautiful Saturday.

Bella is the owner and mastermind of Bella Lane Designs. She has been helping companies grow by creating brands that don’t just look good, but work hard for their business. BLD specializes in brand development, interactive media, e-marketing, and web development. Her work has been featured in Black Enterprise and Essence magazines, AJC, and has been interviewed by Metro Cafe TV. She has also received several awards such as the 2003 Chamber of Commerce New Business Award.

I asked her a couple of questions about her company and the importance of personal image when it comes to branding your business.

Q. How did you start your business and how hard was it to get your name out?

A. It was an economic recession during the early 2000s that led me to start my own business. I couldn't find a job so I started freelance design projects to get by. I had little money to advertise, so I found initial clients by offering free and low-cost services and donated services to a couple of nonprofits to get my name out and grow my portfolio. I also partnered with local print shops to promote my services to their existing clients.

Q. Your company has your name, Bella Lane Designs, why did you choose to use your name?

A. It was simple and I knew it would help me to brand myself both for freelance work at that time as well as grow as my business grew. A Bella Lane Design is a solution that is unique, creative, innovative and above all confident.

Q. How important do you think that your personal image is to your company, since it has your name and all?

A. My personal image is everything. My company is built on my personal principal - INTEGRITY. Design and branding is very personable. It is to stir emotion, whether it is anger, laughter, hunger, etc. Knowing the person/people who will be responsible for capturing this is essential to great design. The relationship we have with our clients is imperative to our success and I believe a face to a company or agency allows a future client to see who they are partnering with before making that crucial decision.

A lot has happened this week and I guess a lot of things have changed in my life. I didn't work today and took the entire day off to do nothing but hang out with my mom. She came to spend the night and we had a little mother-daughter bonding time. We stayed up late, very very late, talking about me. About all the mistakes I made and what a rebel I was, according to her. According to me, I was just being myself and following my heart. I must say that there are a lot of decisions I made that were not the best but regardless of that, they got me to where I am today. And here, where I am today, I am very happy.

My mom turned .:51:. yesterday and I couldn't help but to see myself reflected in her. When I was little, I used hate it when people would tell me that I looked like her because I really don't. Sure, I got her goofy smile, laugh loudly like she does, and also inherited her awful ability to cry my eyes out over the smallest things but that's as far as genes go.

Between shopping, haircuts, Oreo ice cream cones, sushi, more shopping, and life we took 20 short minutes to do a spontaneous session. Spontaneity, yet another thing I didn't get from her either or my thoughtful gift giving because she gives you things that you need and not things that you want! How awful is that?!

A new beginning.

I guess life always has little surprises in store for us, some that we secretly hope for and others...well, others that we just get. I've learned to cope with both and embrace both, one more tenderly than the other. Some very special people in my life are moving away and I'm a little blue. I guess we need things like this to happen just so we can see how each person that we love is part of a very fragile environment that can shudder with a soft breeze.

On a happier note. New things are blooming all around! I no longer need a jacket to walk to my mailbox and have started to crave ice cream instead of hot chocolate...SPRING IS HERE!

So, I went to Las Vegas, stayed there for a couple of days and even in the infamous 'sin city' I was able to find some amazing art galleries and an antique bookstore. Now tell me, who in the world does that? I mean, I was there for a photography convention and for days I did not get to see the light of day because I had such a hectic and tight class schedule that started at dawn and ended a little after sunset. The one day I got a couple of hours to wonder about freely I go to art galleries. Oh..., just so you know I did gamble and I won!!! But then, I lost it all and some more. :(

On a side note, on our way back to Atlanta we encounter a lot of turbulence because of the bad weather and we ended up circling the airport for about an hour because it was closed. Sure, I love traveling and all but flying is not really my thing. So, there I was on the seat next to the window just looking out at the all the lightning and holding on to Jose’s arm like crazy every time the plane would shake. People, I don’t even like rollercoasters and we were thousands of feet up in the air in a shaking plane with people freaking out around me and almost screaming! I could never ever travel alone, I need Jose’s arm to hold on to and for him to look at me calmly, give me a cute little smile, and then say “it’s nothing”.

After some very intense days at the WPPI 2010 Convention, I came home exhausted but full of enthusiasm! You see, I had to get up at 6:30 every morning for five days, stand in long lines to get into the classes that I wanted to take because even though some had a limit of like 1,200 people, those 1,200 people would get there as early as they could, making the lines extremely long! I was in classes ALL day long, and had to rushingly walk for what seemed like miles from my room to the different classes and as if standing in line for an hours to get into classes was not enough, I also had to stand in lines to get some much needed Starbucks in the morning. People, I kid you not when I say that my love for a soy chai tea late made me stand in line for about 20 minutes at one of the many Starbucks in our hotel. When faced with the question of "tall, grande or venti?", I had to go with the grande just to make it worth my time…oh I also threw in a pastry to make my line standing worth it. ;)

I had the best experience ever! I met wonderful people, made new friends and saw some old faces that made my heart smile. I attended classes/workshops with top photographers from all over the world (Australia, Malaysia, UK, US, etc) such as Yervant, Jose Villa, Louis Pang, Jerry Ghionis, JoePhoto, Jasmine Star and so many others that were just so happy to share their knowledge and skills. It truly was an amazing experience that helped me grow immensely as a photographer, professional and artist. I will cherish my early mornings, my starvation while in classes, my lack of sleep, and my miles of walking as the best memories ever because all of these things were nothing compared to the knowledge, experience, and inspiration that I flew out of Las Vegas with.

If you’re a photographer reading this, I truly hope that you’re as luck as I was to attend one of these conventions because it will change your life... like, you have NO idea.

Now, I'm back home and still wish I was there...jet lag, sleeplessness and all.

The very first time I spoke with Farideh, I knew I was going to enjoy this party. She's one of those people that you feel lucky to meet because she's such a kind and joyful person. She told me that it was going to be Al's, her husband, 50th birthday and a couple of minutes and laughs later I was onboard for this great event.

She planned everything incredibly well. There were belly dancers, a guitarist, and the decor was exquisite. The party was a huge success and I know Al felt lucky to have such a great night with their close friends and family.

So, Sunday sneaked up on me. This was no ordinary Sunday, this was MY photo session Sunday. What to wear? I didn't even go shopping, which really was just a waste of a great excuse to buy new shoes, accessories, dresses, jeans, tops, and even a new perfume. Yes. Don't you know that you do have to smell good for pictures? ;)

I was well aware of the fact that my blog and my website pictures are from when I was like 20. I know, shame on me.

But people, what is a girl to do when my loving boyfriend refuses (well, may be refuses is a strong word...more like hesitates) to take pictures of me because he labels me as being 'too controlling, obsessive, and picky' when it comes to being in front of a camera. I assure you that I am none of those things. Pinky swear! I just like for my pictures to be perfect! I like to think that 'perfection is in the eye of the beholder' and my eye is pretty demanding. You see, I'm always hunting for great light, bright colors, textures, lines, and an infinite number of things to make my pictures 'just perfect'.

As you can imagine, I picked every single place and gave specific instructions to my wonderful photographer aka my boyfriend about these pictures. (thx, babe! you're the best!)

Without further ado, here are my pictures. He did a fabulous job and I hope you get a glimpse of my personality. I'm no pro at being on the other side ...but I could get used to it. :D

I have a thing with using food as a way to demonstrate affection. I mean, can you think of a better way to tell someone that I love them other than by baking them a great Oreo Cookie cake with chocolate covered strawberries? You see it now, there isn't!

So, as any modern girl would do, I googled a recipe. I finally picked one from Kraft Foods and out it came from the printer. You know how you always see people walking around the grocery store just picking and choosing their ingredients from a handwritten grocery list? Well, that was not me. I was shameless! I walked around with my printed recipe in hand and joyfully paraded around checking things off. I secretly believe that those people with the handwritten grocery lists get their recepies online too but do that as a cover-up. ;)

I mixed in all the ingredients, then as the cake was baking I decorated my pretty chocolate covered strawberries. I came up with that all on my own, no recipe! :D My personal opinion is that my strawberries were really what made the cake. Because people, what is a chocolate cake without strawberries anyways?

We had a perfect Valentine's Day weekend. My favorite part was Friday night when we sat by the fireplace drinking wine, talking about books, movies, catching up on our dreams for the future, and just enjoying each other’s company.

Too soon the weekend was over and Monday came. We grabbed lunch and then, as unbelievable as this may sound, we went shooting. Yes, as in shooting guns at a shooting range. It was quite an experience, to say the least. Obviously it was not my idea but someone else's, who I should not name. :D

This weekend, I baked a chocolate cake and shot guns. I might just make a great wife one day.

So, bullets, strawberries, and all... it was a great weekend.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and as soon as I walked in I was welcomed by a cloud of red balloons, bouquets with huge ribbons, & monkeys holding hot pink chocolate hearts. I guess Valentine's Day is here! I have nothing against being overly expressive with your love for someone but I find that simplicity has an undefeatable charm. I would much rather receive a love note than a "wild thing" singing monkey.

You see, I am the kind of person that will go to Hallmark and spend hours looking at cards until I find the perfect "blank inside card" so that I can write a simple sentence and sign. If it happens to be one of my "Dali Days", I may get creative enough and doodle. :D Sure, I'm not much of an artist parse but at least I know my Art History...GSU, hello?! As I was saying, I'm a firm believer in simplicity and old fashion romanticism that does not include glitter, bulky ribbons, or singing monkeys.

You still have some time to search for that perfect gift. Do not settle for anything less than timeless and unforgettable. Oh... I assure you that I am not talking about three carat diamonds, but instead of a romantic and fun photography session. You see, life is composed of moments and being able to preserve them in beautiful pieces of art is the best gift you could ever give...and may be a "blank inside card" with a nice picture. ;)

Today, I was on a mission. I search around the house, camera in hand, hunting for a picture to go with this blog entry and I found these love frogs. They totally express my simple and old fashioned definition of romanticism.

Traveling is definitely one of my favorite things in the world.
However, when it comes to going to the beach I always hesitate. I love the feeling of being at the beach and hearing the tireless waves vanish but the thing is that I don't know how to swim. (shameful, I know!) But, who can say "no" to Cancun?

I've had some bad experiences with the ocean before. One that comes to my mind right now happend a couple of years ago. While on a trip to Puerto Vallarta (Jalisco, Mexico) my boyfriend, Jose, persuaded me & finally talked me into going snorkeling. As scared as I was, I pulled myself together and my life vest and I ventured into the water. Needless to say, I was in panic mode and didn't do much snorkeling but I did get stung by jellyfish! Not the bad deadly kind (thankfuly), but regular old painful jellyfish.

While in Cancun, we visited the beautiful ecological park of Xcaret. If you have never been there you need to immediately pack your bags, throw in your bathing suit, eco-friendly tanning lotion, an underwater camera, and fly there like, RIGHT NOW!!!

We went snorkeling again but this time in Cenotes and natural underground rivers that had beautiful fish and caves that gave me the feeling of being in a dream. I loved the experience! (no jellyfish!!!)

I guess that you just have to be defiant and keep trying until you conquer your fear. I must admit, it was a little scary when I got in the water, specially because it was in a cave, but my fear gave in to the beauty and dreamy feeling of floating in a magical water world. Before I knew it, it was over but I was ready to go back and do it again!

I have never loved anything with the same passion that I love art. My heart smiles from how intense this passion is and I truly believe that my happiness is contingent to it. Have you ever thought of what happiness is to you? Have you ever wondered what things, yes things, is your soul made of? I know that mine is composed of three basic elements, art, love, and color. Don’t take me wrong, there are many more things that fill my life with joy and make me smile.

I love the smell and sound of rain, enjoy walking around the park with a cookies-n-cream waffle cone ice cream in hand, dancing to rock music like crazy when I’m home alone (I really don’t want to freak people out, so I refrain from doing this in public places), draw, sing loudly in my car while stuck in traffic, having beautiful sunflowers at home, and talking to my friends for endless hours over bottomless cups of chai tea lattés & countless deserts because I truly believe that your body is immune to calories & carbs if you eat them while laughing. As you can see, I have a little substance abuse problem with sugar but I figured that consuming excessive sugar amounts only makes me a sweeter person. ;o)

Few are the times when I have walked out of a bookstore without buying a book. I swear, the spirit of a greedy nerd possesses my soul and I end up buying more books than I read with the meaningless excuse of ‘I will not buy anymore books until I read all the ones that I have at home’. Who am I fooling? Not ME for sure, I know me so well that I know I will tell myself the same thing again next time! I kid you not when I say that I can spend hours and hours in a bookstore with piles of art books curled up in those old and nasty looking chairs. I do admit that at first I’m a little hesitant about sitting on them but c’mon it’s not like I have a phobia to germs or anything…as my loving boyfriend believes!

Art has always been a part of my life and I have a happy life because of that. I sincerely believe that each second, just as my soul, is composed of art, love, and color and being able to preserve them in a picture makes me even happier. I’m immune to time when I’m behind a camera. This is an insanely amazing gift that God gave me and I am the happiest gal in the world when I have a camera with me. I could just shoot for endless hours because I feel like an infant and everything is so new, so unique, so fresh, so vivid.

Photography is the best thing that has ever happened to me. There are many things behind the lens of a photographer; constant learning, reading, and keeping up with technology, but all of these are just part of this wonderful job! (I must say that according to my dictionary, photography is not a job but a wonderful thing that makes my existence nothing short of amazing!)

I can only hope to do this for the rest of my life because I’m just Oooh so happy to be an artist!

There is always a first time for everything, but nothing compares to knowing that you're going to be a mother for the first time! I can only imagine the excitement, the joy, all the new feelings and emotions that come with such news!

We drove for about an hour down to the old paper mill ruins at Sope Creek Park, here in Georgia. It was quite cold but we still managed to enjoy our time there and had a blast.

I truely wish I was there right now!

I guess there is always this great feeling of excitement that we all get whenever we're going back home that is like no other. Yes, I've traveled to other countries and yes I am aware of the fact that Guatemala is a third world country but believe me when I tell you that such a discriminating label does not take from its beauty.

Guatemala has great ruins in Tikal, an extraordinarily beautiful lake (Lago Atitlan) in Panajachel, and the always charming and fun colonial city of Antigua. My two favorite places are Panajachel & Antigua. I love Pana because it has this great artsy-bohemian feeling to it with all the market stands along its main street and great night life. The second, Antigua, is provably the most popular city in Guatemala. It has beautiful colonial buildings, ruins of convents, beautiful churches, and great restaurants and cafes.

Everything about Guatemala is so incredible, friendly people, great food, amazing views, and gorgeous places.

While in Guadalajara, Mexico, I had a special request to take some pictures of this older couple. They have been married for over 60yrs and still going, he's 88 now and she's in her late 70s. It was such an honor to do this! I was very delicate with them, as I didn't want to push them out of their comfort zone. The shot took place in their ranch and afterwards we had some amazing food!

Here are some of my favorite shots. I guess you can say that this is my interpretation of neoclassical photography.... lol

Believe it or not, I really didn't take many pictures of my trip. I was so busy touring, eating, and having fun that I completely neglected my camera for a couple of days, believe it or not!!!

One of the things that I love the most about Mexico is how colorful it is!

On our way back we passed by Saltillo, a city in northern Mexico, and we kept seeing these boards with pictures of Rome, Venice, NY and other famous world cities. This one from Paris and read "Paris is more popular, but Saltillo is SOMETHING ELSE" lol :D

So many wedding dresses to choose from, way too many veils, and never enough time to see and try them all on! Sometimes I feel bad for the happy soon-to-be brides because they are inundated with so many decisions and choices, by that I mean anything ranging from the food for the reception to the wedding dress. I say, let the people starve and just look amazing! My take is that they should understand and be selfless for at least a day. ;o)
This wedding dress hunt took place at LaRaine's Boutique in Virginia Highlands in Atlanta. They were the nicest and had great service. I hope to visit them again soon.
